Mohali > Mohali

Mohali is a city adjacent to Chandigarh, 18th District in Punjab, India. It is officially named after the eldest son of Guru Gobind Singh, Sahibzada Ajit Singh . It along with Chandigarh and Panchkula form a part of the Chandigarh Tricity or Chandigarh Capital Region. It was earlier a part of the Rupnagar District, and was carved out into a separate district in the recent years.

Mohali has a sub-tropical continental monsoon climate characterized by a seasonal rhythm: hot summers, slightly cold winters, unreliable rainfall and great variation in temperature. In winter, frost sometimes occurs during December and January.

Air: Currently, there is no airport in Mohali, but AAAI has granted permission and there will be one coming up soon. Chandigarh is well connected by air with major cities in India. The airport is 12 km from the City Centre. Indian Airlines and Jet Airways connect Chandigarh with Delhi, Leh and Amritsar. Chandigarh is also linked to Delhi by low cost airlines. Taxis are available for airport transfer; you can easily hire one to reach Mohali.

Rail: Chandigarh is well linked with Delhi and other parts of the country through rail. Chandigarh railway station is 8 km from the city centre in sector 17. The twice-daily Shatabdi Express to Delhi is fast, comfortable and a good option to reach Chandigarh.

Road: Chandigarh is well-connected by road and there are bus services from various states such as Haryana, Punjab, Himachal, and Delhi. Chandigarh is also gateway to Himachal Pradesh as one can reach hill stations like Kasauli, Chail, Shimla etc within in a few hours drive. Chandigarh is well served by an excellent network of roads. The National Highways No. 21 (Ambala-Kinnaur) and 22 (Chandigarh-Leh) are the chief road arteries linking Chandigarh with the rest of the country.
