Kasauli is a little small cantonment town in Solan district in the Indian state of [[Himachal Pradesh].The town is the home of the Kasauli Brewery, which is the highest brewery and distillery in the world. The cantonment was established in 1842 by the British colonial rulers as a hill station. Located 77 km from Shimla, 65 km from Chandigarh and 50 km from Panchkula at a height of 1800 meters, it still retains the old world charms and is a throwback to the past.

 

Though there is really no bad time to take a tour to Kasauli. The hill resort can be quite cold in winters, so if you cannot stand too much of cold, then try visiting from April to November. In the summers it offers a perfect summer retreat from the hot summer sun of the plains. If you are planning to take tour in winters then, do not forget to bring along some heavy woolen clothing and if its summer holiday you are looking forward to, simply get some cotton wear and a light jacket.

Kasauli can be easily reached by road from New Delhi, Chandigarh, Shimla and other major north Indian cities but the easiest way among this is to take the bus to Shimla and get off at Dharampur from where can get frequent buses to Kasauli. One can also take the Kalka-Shimla toy train to Dharampur. The routes is ; 10 from Kasauli is the NH1 which connects Shimla to Ambala and at Ambala the NH 22 proceed towards Kalka. From Kalka the road continues towards Dharampur via Panchkula and Pinjore. From Dharampur get off NH 22 and take a local bus to Kasauli. 

Air : Chandigarh is the nearest airport which is (60 km/ 1.30 hrs), connected by daily flights to Delhi, Jammu and Mumbai. International travelers have to get connection flights from Delhi International airport (300 km )

Rail : Kalka (34 km/ 1 hrs) is the nearest railhead which is connected with all major cities in India like Amritsar, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.

Road: State owned transport buses connect Kasauli to many cities in and around. Super fast and super deluxe buses have stop at Kasauli, which are plying from Chandigarh to other major cities in the state.
